Two years after ceasing operations there due to its incapacity to repatriate $85 million in revenue that was held there, Emirates Airlines announced plans to resume operations in Nigeria on October 1.

During a working meeting with United Arab Emirates Ambassador to Nigeria, Salem Saeed Al-Shamsii, on Wednesday, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo received a firm date for Emirates Airlines to start flight operations.

“Yesterday, I paid a working visit to the UAE Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency, Salem Saeed Al-Shamsi at the UAE Embassy in Abuja,” stated Keyamo on his official X handle. He gave me an email from Emirates Airline that included a specific date for when they would start operating again to Nigeria. In a few days, Emirates Airlines will formally announce that date.

The airline posted shortly after on the Official X account, saying, “We’re back, Nigeria! Beginning on October 1, 2024, we will be restarting services to Lagos. We are eager to provide unparalleled connection to over 140 locations, including Dubai. “The service will be operated using a Boeing 777-300ER,” stated Adnan Kazim, Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer of Emirates, in a news release. The return flight, EK784, will leave Lagos at 1730 and arrive in Dubai at 0510 hours. EK783 is scheduled to depart Dubai at 0945 and arrive in Lagos at 1520 hours.
